Next time, I'm running you over.

On the way to work this morning, passing the GO station, I was approaching a GREEN light. Remember this: GREEN light. As i was heading up Newkirk, 5-6 people crossed the street to get across to the GO station. No big deal, as slowed a bit, and it appeared that they were just running because there was no traffic. As I approached closer to the intersection, one more person ran out in front of my car, and I had to slam the brakes to avoid hitting him!! I came to a standstill at a GREEN light... gave the guy the "WTF?" look, then realized I should honk, and honked.

Now, it may have been difficult for him to see me coming, because some other asswipe parked their SUV in the right lane of traffic to drop someone off, rather than pulling into the parking lot and dropping them off. And of course, they parked RIGHT at the intersection, blocking this guy's view of oncoming traffic.

Honestly, if you're in a big enough rush to jaywalk across the street, then you can do one of two things to avoid the need to rush across the street in the future:

1. Leave your house 10 minutes earlier, or
2. Get run over by a '91 Volkswagen Passat.

Either one should solve the problem. Next time, I'm not screeching to a halt. I'll try to avoid them, but I know if I hit them, I'm not going to jail. I believe there's a term for people who run into oncoming traffic: natural selection.

Fun with Spam!

No, it's not what you're thinking... 'cause that's just gross.

No, I get a chuckle out of some of the blocks of text added to spam emails... they're always fun to read, like this one:

"and she stopped embarrassed Thank you, he said drily, and coat, sir she said, and give them a good dry in the kitchen quite politely in acknowledgement of her explanation He took a mouthful, glanced suspiciously at the window, took Mrs Hall, nothing loath, answered his questions and developed nicely dried, sir, at once, she said, and carried his clothes out you like In a bit the room will be warmer He made no answer, the white muslin that obscured the lower panes This left the room , and extended the travellers coat upon this And they goggles"

I wish someone would give me a good dry in the kitchen... but only if it's polite.

it's for sale

It's for sale all right... it's been freakin' everywhere.

supershopper.ca
craigslist.org
buysell.com
The Auto Trader

And now... it's on eBay.

*sigh* I'm still not sure if I'm willing to let the car go for a dirt-cheap price just to have it sold. It's a decent car... it's just that no one seems interested in them! :(

Driver (still) Wanted.

So, I'm thinking about putting the Volkswagen up for sale again. It didn't sell last time, and I'm pretty sure that had a lot to do with the asking price ($3500 Certified & E-tested). I think the car itself is worth it, there just simply isn't enough demand for a 15-year old car out there! :)

But with the nicer weather coming up this weekend, I started missing the Miata (again). And started thinking about how much it sucked having two cars to park in one space. And then on Sunday, I did some math. I've paid out *just* over $3000 to obtain this car. And with the money I "got back" from carpooling, that brings it down to about $2500 or so. So maybe, if I can sell it for around that much (most likely certified), I won't feel like I'm losing too much money.

So... do you know anyone who puts on a lot of mileage, and needs a used car? :)
